FRC | 2012 | REBOUND RUMBLE

FIRST  Power Up involves two alliances of three teams each, with each team controlling a robot and performing specific tasks on a field to score points. The game has a retro 8-bit theme and teams are required to place milk crates, or “power cubes”, on large balancing scales to tip the scale and gain ownership. Alliances can also trade power cubes for power ups, giving them a temporary advantage in a match. At the end of the match, robots can climb the tower attached to the centre balancing scale using a rung attached to the tower, giving them additional points.

  • Each pod contains the wheel, a cim and was constructed out of Baltic birch to help us achieve a max speed of 14 feet/second.
  • Nav-X by Kauai Labs for use as the field centric drive which would make it easier to pick up cubes efficiently and to keep our bot in constant motion
  • Greyhill encoders for autos
  • Chassis was built with 2 by 1 aluminum tubing with a Baltic birch belly pan.
  • Wood construction with 2 green Andymark compliant wheels on each side.

  • The pivot of the claw is powered by a 100:1 bag motor gearbox with a 84:18 gear reductions
  • Cascading elevator, with the frame being made from 2 by 1 tubing and C-channel and the carriage being made from baltic birch.
  • A rope is used to power the elevator with a 2 775pro 30:1 gearboxes on one side and one 775 pro 30:1 on the other side for the rope to coil and pull the elevator up.
